Which Diseases Does Urology Treat in Children?

Pediatric urology is a subspecialty that covers the diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract and genital system diseases that are congenital or appear in childhood.

The most commonly encountered diseases are as follows:

  • Undescended testis (cryptorchidism)
  • Hypospadias
  • Vesicoureteral reflux
  • Childhood urinary tract infections
  • Kidney development disorders
  • Bedwetting at night (enuresis)

Early recognition and appropriate treatment of these diseases during childhood is of great importance in preventing permanent kidney damage that may occur at later ages.
